COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS & PHILANTHROPY
Oak Grove School Mission
"Ignite a passion for learning in pursuit of excellence."
At Oak Grove, our Mission & Beliefs do not stop at our front door -- they extend to the broader community around us. We want to ignite passion, see children thrive, and maximize their potential in other schools as well because that makes the world a better place for all of us.
Not all schools are able to drive incremental funding through Galas such as this one. This year, we are proud to include an additional fundraising initiative for Thomas Jefferson Middle School in Waukegan and the Zion Elementary School District 6. Your books donated this evening will be sent directly to the schools. In addition, the Spirit Toss and additional specified monetary donations will support these literacy programs.
This fundraising initiative does not impact our fundraising for Oak Grove - it is completely optional, separate, distinct and accretive.
Let’s see if we can work together to help these kids dream big. Please show your Eagle spirit and give generously.
Zion Elementary School District 6
Supporting Literacy through the Reading Matters Program
Zion Elementary School District 6 is a PreK-8 district of approximately 2600 students. District 6 has one preschool, five elementary schools, and one middle school. English Learners make up 26% of the student population, and 86% of students receive free or reduced lunch. The kick off of a campaign for their students, “Reading Matters”, provides the opportunity for Zion youth to access a variety of books in print. Students are encouraged to peruse the selections available, take them home, and keep them as their own. This program is at no cost to the reader, and Zion is excited to provide students with a window to the world through literature.
Your donated books and funds tonight will go to support this program.
