The purpose of the Oak Grove School Education Foundation “Educator of the Year” Award is to recognize and honor staff who demonstrated outstanding accomplishments during the school year. Nominees should:
• Demonstrate a commitment to self-improvement and personal development
• Promote learning and growing
• Collaborate with others in sharing best practices and ideas
• Have a positive rapport with students
• Contribute to the success of Oak Grove School
Teachers are nominated by a colleague or peer at the end of the school year by submitting a nomination form to the Foundation (teachers check your OGS email for link in May). Award recipients receive a recognition plaque and $500 award (subject to federal/state tax reporting). An anonymous donor came forward to the Foundation with funds specifically earmarked for this award for the next 3 years (these awards do not come from regular Foundation fundraising).
All teachers employed by Oak Grove School during the school calendar year are eligible. Nominations are first reviewed by the Foundation Teacher Recognition Subcommittee comprised of Foundation board members selected annually by the Foundation president. The Subcommittee will review, discuss, and select (by majority vote) the top 3 to 5 applications to present to the entire Foundation Board for consideration. The Foundation Board will then review, discuss, and select (by majority vote) the winning candidate(s) prior to the end of the school year. Anyone who is either (1) a voting member of the Foundation Teacher Recognition Subcommittee, and/or (2) a voting member of the Foundation Board is not eligible to receive the award.
Recognizing the hard work and dedication of our teachers is so important!
