Grant Requests

Project Types

Major Project: A "major project" is any individual request or series of related requests for Foundation funds that is of substantial cost. Generally, these requests would originate with the District and would impact a District-wide initiative or a broad range of students.

Mini Grant: A "mini grant" is a project of lesser cost and is designed to provide teachers and staff a means to request funds that support educational enhancements beyond the core curriculum.

Project Objectives

The Oak Grove School Education Foundation's primary focus is to augment the District's overall mission and accelerate the completion of long range projects with an emphasis toward supporting:

  • Development of the whole child through enrichment activities;
  • Encouragement of staff creativity, development, and excellence
  • Science and technology enhancement
  • Increased interaction between the school, community, and corporate partners

Requesting Funds

New Funding requests will be reviewed and approved at least four times each year by the OGSEF Funding Committee. Although ad hoc requests are also considered, the standard process for requesting funds is:

  1. An OGSEF project funding form is completed by the requestor and submitted through either email, postal mail, or placed in the OGSEF mailbox in the School office. The funding request form can be found here.
  2. The chairman of the Funding Committee reviews the request with the Oak Grove Superintendent and the Oak Grove PTO president to determine if the request is redundant with existing or planned projects.
  3. The Funding Committee meets quarterly to review requests, solicit additional details, and provide a recommendation to the OGSEF Board. Recommendations are based on feasibility, affordability, and how well a request furthers the stated objectives of the OGSEF.
  4. The OGSEF Board makes the final determination as to which projects are funded and for what amounts.
  5. The Funding Committee chairman communicates results back to the requestor.

Approved Projects

A member of the OGSEF Board will be assigned as a liaison to each approved project. The OGSEF Board liaison is responsible for monitoring the project in sufficient detail to ensure that the funds are being efficiently spent for the approved purpose. The liaison will provide a brief periodic update to the OGSEF Board.

The OGSEF Board liaison will facilitate determining how funds will be provided to the project (e.g., reimbursement, requiring bids, OGSEF purchasing materials directly).

Funding Philosophy

The OGSEF will generally allocate donated funds to be used along the following
breakdown:

  • 60% Major projects
  • 30% Mini grants
  • 10% Contingency

It is understood that unexpected needs and opportunities may necessitate flexibility in managing the funding allocation strategy. Faculty or staff wishing to request a grant should click on the link below.
