68 for 68

Dear Oak Grove Families,

We are very excited to partner with Oak Grove School District 68, the PTO, and the Oak Grove Community to help raise funds to complete the much-needed improvements to the South Fields and Junior High Playground by the beginning of the 2009-2010 school year.

The playground improvements will include all-new play equipment, a full size basketball court, a shaded seating area for socializing, blacktop games, and a halfmile walking/jogging path. This project will provide a safe area for our students that promotes fun and fitness, additional resources for the PE department, support for extra-curricular activities, and added recreational resources that can be used by the entire community. More information about the playground project can be found on the School, PTO, and Foundation (under construction) websites.

The PTO has made a financial commitment of $70,000 and also provided additional resources to research and match student needs with 21st century playground standards. The District has committed an additional $70,000 in next year’s budget to be used toward this project. With your support, the Foundation has agreed to raise the additional funds needed to reach a total goal of $198,000. We hope that we can count on your support.

To make the playground a reality, we are launching our first annual “68 for 68” fundraising campaign. If each household in the Oak Grove community can contribute just $68 for District 68, we will both meet our goal for the playground project and establish a source of funding that will continue to make Oak Grove a GREAT school and our community a better place in which to live.
